Hampstead and Camden

I love to go to this area when the weather is nice. It’s a beautiful neighbourhood with one of the most beautiful parks of London.

The Chicken Shop | London

The Chicken Shop Kentish Town

I never really come in Kentish Town but now that I have discovered this place I will definitely be back for more because the chicken they serve is to die for! The meat is juicy and moist with a crispy skin.. In other words heavenly… The chicken comes with simple side dishes of your choice like corn on the cob (love…), lettuce with avocado or (and in our case) chips. The restaurant is located beneath the third Pizza East that I know of in London (see our posts about Pizza East Shoreditch and Notting Hill)  You can have a drink at their bar whilst waiting for your table downstairs in the Chicken Shop. If worst comes to worst you could have dinner here instead but I prefer the Chicken Shop because their chicken is just too good to miss out on.  The interior is perfect for a romantic date but also to go to with friends. It is almost ski hut kind of cozy with low wooden ceilings, dim lights and a large wooden open kitchen / counter. They mixed the ski hut look with industrial American diner look which works perfectly. Last but not least; do NOT leave before having tried their home baked apple pie… It is SO insanely delicious! 79 Highgate Rd, London |+44 20 3310 2020 | Tube: right in between Gospel Oak / Kentish Town and Tufnell Park | ££ | Website | Map

Picnic Concert Kenwood House
If you get a change to go to a concert here you should definitely do it. Book promenade tickets and bring a blanket with some wine and food.

Picnic Concert Kenwood House

Kenwood House
On itself this house is worth a visit. You can go to Hampstead by tube or bus and walk through the park towards Kenwood House. They have a very impressive Old Master Paintings collection.

Camden Market
All sorts of nice stuff and crowd is alternative. I love going there (especially by boat from Little Venice). You can also take the bus afterwards towards Hampstead Heath. Look out for the stables market in the middle because this is the nicest part full of vintage shops and food stalls. If you have a costume party don’t think twice and get your costume right here…

Stables Market

The Spaniard
I never had dinner here so I can’t tell you anything about that. However, I did have drinks in the charming Beer Garden. They are open for drinks, lunch and dinner. They are located on the main road that goes through the park. Also a great place to go in the winter as it has a really warm, cosy interior.  Spaniards Road.

La cage Imaginaire
Really cute little French restaurant in sweet little street in Hamstead.  The atmosphere in this little street is fantastic. Some people have market stalls outside and next to the restaurant is a pub where people are having drinks outside on the pavement. 16 Flask Walk

My Village Café

I cycled past this place about three years ago and took a picture because it looked so cute. Two years later I went to a Gig with Guusje near Chalk farm and this place was like 50 meters along the road from the Barfly (Gigs Venue).
This is one of these special friendly places that you find so often in London; a totally unique character, a super friendly owner and a funky atmosphere. It’s a really simple, hippy kind of’ place. You go to the counter and order your food (falafels and such). The Kurdish/Korean owner will let you try their hot chocolate in small sample glasses. 37 Chalk Farm Road,  Primrose Hill | Tube; Chalk Farm +442074854996 | ££
