Roka Mayfair | London

Roka mayfair
Oh my what is this restaurant good… Heavenly…The best. I am in love. I had trouble getting a reservation here so I would recommend making a reservation a few weeks before especially if you want to go in the weekend.
I also recommend you try the Premium tasting menu.. Expensive but the best, and it allows you to try things you may not select yourself. I basically could not speak a few times because I was just trying to figure out how to express myself about the divine food that entered my mouth haha…
Okay so; the restaurant is located in Mayfair (there is another Roka in Marlybone – see Guusje’s post), has a contemporary Japanese Robatayaki cuisine (award-winning) and has room for about 80 people in the main dining area, a few high tables with stools for 2 guests and seats around their Robatayaki grill. They also have a few tables outside on the pavement. The grill is in the center of the restaurant and the whole place has a warm contemporary feel to it. I wish I could eat here everyday! 30 North Audley Street, Mayfair, London | +4420 7305 5644 | ££££ | Tube; Marble Arch or Bond Street | Website | Map

SushiSamba – London

SushiSamba in New York was the favorite hang out of the girls in Sex and the City and was where Samatha threw a dirty Martini in her ex-lovers face!!  London now has it’s own SushiSamba, following the one in New York. The restaurant in London is on the 38th Floor of the Heron Tower in East London which makes it the highest terrace point in London. Stunning panoramic views can be enjoyed on the roof terrace while you are having an aperitive and inside you can enjoy dinner (they do not serve food outside unfortunately) The blend of Brazilian, Peruvian and Japanese kitchen is insanely good. It’s fresh, exciting and original as is the whole interior design.  I have to say that Bishopsgate is not the most romantic street in London, but it’s near the lovely Flowermarket, Broadway Market and Bricklane so you could top off a Bohemian, arty and cultural strolling day in Shoreditch with a fabulous high style dinner!

Yashin – Sushi and Bar

I was looking for a nice place to have dinner in this area, because I was planning to go to the Kensington Odeon (Cinema) later. I found this place on Google maps and because we were dying to have sushi, we decided to go here for a quick bite.
This was not just sushi… This was mind blowing sushi… melting on your tong sushi!
Approximately 12 cooks (most of them Japanese) are preparing fresh sushi in a tiny space with an open kitchen. The restaurant has a very contemporary, fresh look with the option to sit at the sushi bar upstairs or at intimate tables downstairs.
One disappointment which will make me not go back here too often… It’s very expensive… The cheapest wine is £10,- a glass to give you an idea.

This is partly a cocktail bar, partly a Japanese restaurant in on one of my favorite streets in Knightsbridge: Beauchamp Place. On the ground floor you’ll find the cocktail bar that has a modern, minimalistic feel to it.  The atmosphere of the dining room(s) upstairs is clean, white and airy with a chic touch. The food is absolutely mindblowing….
I can’t really say much about the cocktails because we started and finished with wine… But I would definitely recommend this place if your wallet can handle it…15 Beauchamp Place |Tube: Knightsbridge |+442078381500 | ££££ | website

Aqua Rooftop Terrace

One of the best rooftop terraces in London to enjoy the sun is at Aqua Kyoto, just off Oxford Circus. Cafe del Mar type of music, great wines and amazing cocktails  (I didn’t try their cocktails but they looked like a piece of art). They serve snacks outside, dinner only inside. 240 Regent Street (entrance at 30 Argyll Street), 020 7478 0540 – Tube: Oxford Circus – £££

Bond St

This restaurant is often refered to as the best Sushi Restaurant in New York…I wouldn’t be suprised if they’re in the top 5 … I still dream of a dish I had here: The Tuna Pizza (recommended by the waiter). The restaurant has a  minimalist, slightly formal chic decor but this also depends on where you sit (at the bar/counter or in the restaurant). We had a little trouble finding the place and came in through the bar entrance in the basement. You should take the stairs up instead… 6 Bond St, New York, +1 (718) 213-4813, $$$$ -Underground: Bleecker Street-Lexington

L’Etranger – London

This is a mouthwatering good restaurant in South Kensington. I really enjoyed their Modern French with Japanese influence kitchen but found the atmosphere a bit stiff for my taste.  It is very minimalistic and modern in not exactly my kind of taste interior but I still choose to post it on our website because I think it’s a great option if you are looking for a more serious setting (business lunch?) or feel like a real fine tasting kitchen and have something to celebrate (because this restaurant doesn’t come cheap). The food is delicious and stylishly presented and their wine list is one of the finest in London. They even have an on-site wine shop…  36 Gloucester Road | ££££ | Tube: Gloucester Road | +442075841118 |Website | Map
