Toscanini | Amsterdam

I have tried to make a reservation here a million times but they are always fully booked so I was so incredibly excited that I managed to get a table last night by just walking in! Probably already known well by lots of you but a absolute winner if you ask me!! Best Italian food and wine menu. Great atmosphere in the cozy Jordaan. Super nice, no nonsense staff. Open kitchen and really nice open interior that is made cozy with candles in the evenings. I would recommend this place for dinner with lovers, friends, business and parents! Piccola Cucina | London

Piccola Cucina
There is a new Italian restaurant in our hood… and the cool thing is that suddenly this part of Kensington Park Road (the crossing with Blenheim Crescent) has become an Italian hood… There are 3 Italian restaurants next to each other on one side, and right across the street there are two others… Conclusion; should you be in a desperate need of Italian food you just go to this part of London and you can be quite sure to get a table in one of them. This particular one is very Italian and took the spot of the old Rossopomodoro (also Italian!!). I would recommend them to dim the lights a bit and put some candles on the tables but the food is absolutely amazing and so is the Italian service. Have the Parmigiana di melanzane if you want to make sure to order a hit but everything else I tried was great too. Love their table outside which has heaters and is a great spot for people watching … 186 Kensington park Road, London | Tube; Notting Hill Gate or Ladbroke Grove | £££ | +442072210154 | No website

Aria Wine Bar | NYC, West Village

Aria Wine Bar NYC
Cute little Italian that’s always busy on a quiet street in the West Village. They have all the italian dishes on the menu that you hope for as well as some classic American ones like a great tasting caesar salad for instance. Best to order a selection of different small plates, share a pasta and have lots of wine. My ultimate favourite dish is the gorgonzola stuffed dates with speck. You can’t book, so you might have to wait a little but with a party of 2 I always manage to get a table without having to wait too long. Very cosy, lively, small space spread over 2 floors, quite loud. 117 Perry St & Hudson, NYC | Subway: Christopher st- Sheridan Sq | No website | $$

Portobello Garden Arcade | London

The Portobello Garden Arcade
Having a little bit trouble getting out of my hood as you can read.. But the cool thing about London is that there are places coming and (sometimes regretfully) going all the time. So even though you don’t leave your hood doesn’t mean you can’t try new things!! Anyway, discovered this amazing place this month and was blown away by the few things I tried from their menu. The place is owned and run by Italians and you can see, feel, smell and taste this without trouble. “Bongiorno! Hav’e a’e seat’e”  is how I was welcomed. Tucked away behind an arcade on the busy Portobello Road this is the perfect stop to make to refuel and regain your strength! You can have a full Italian lunch, breakfast or dinner, or just have a coffee, a glass of wine or a cookie. I adored the Parmigiana di Melanzane and the cookies they gave me for free when I asked for the bill.
Great place! 269 Portobello Road, London | Tube: Ladbroke Grove | +4475 3453 2039 | ££ |  No website

Pret-a-Diner London

I intensely love London every time I make a new discovery like this. They say about this restaurant that it’s no ‘Pop-Up’ but a ‘Dining Experience’, which it truly is.  From 09 May to 30 June 2012, you will be able to join the ‘ITALIANS DO IT BETTER’ dinners. They are organised by Michelin-star chef Giorgio Locatelli who creates the traditional-style Italian menus. Every two weeks another Michelin star chef will join him (Accursio Craparo, Cristian and Manuel Costardi, Norbert Niederkofler and Viviana Varese). The menu consists of a choice between two 3-course menus (Locatelli menu and the guest chef menu).
You will be very warmly welcomed by the incredibly dedicated and funky staff who will tell you enthusiastically about the concept of it all.  The venue on St. James’s street in Mayfair looks absolutely incredible. Just really gorgeously done with swanky contemporary art and photographs on the walls. The venue is really spacious with various   rooms to sit in and an open plan kitchen. This is for now my favourite restaurant in London! Go quick before they are gone!!

Ziani’s Restaurant

A friend took me to this small Italian restaurant in the heart off Chelsea yesterday and I loved it! I think it is probably one of the best Italian restaurants in London.
You are warmly welcomed by the place’s owner and the other staff is friendly, funny and attentive too. You feel right at home, the place is buzzing and the food is absolutely incredible. I had the sea scallops sautéed with mushrooms on a rocket salad as a starter…very good.

Bocca di Lupo

Bocca di luppo
A few of my friends were raving about this place so I was excited to check it out. After trying a couple of times (the place is always fully booked) I managed to get a table for 4 – when you’re with 2 they will seat you at the bar, which is also nice. At first, I was afraid it was going to be too pretentious as the surroundings felt a little over the top glamorous (for an Italian), but it turned out to be an honest, lovely and buzzing place. We chose to share a selection of small dishes as starters and for our main course as we couldn’t decide what to get from the enticing menu. My favourites were the Crudita di Mare and Baccala (salted pollack fish). Exceptional food and wine, superfriendly host and waiters.  I’m planning on coming back soon. 12 Archer Street | Tube: Piccadilly Circus | Tel: +442077342223 | Website | £££

The team behind Bocca di Lupo also have a little shop called Gelupo where they sell proper gelato, as well as olives, self made pasta and sauces, a selection of cheeses, fresh fish and wines. It’s located on the other side of the road of their restaurant and too good to miss out on. 7 Archer Street | Website

Caffe Respiro

This is the perfect little venue to have breakfast, lunch, a cup of tea and / or cake in Notting Hill. The place is located in one of my favourite parts of NH and is casual, cozy and cute. The walls are hung with videotapes and dvd’s of movies (the place is named after an Italian movie) which looks very charming and cozy and there are ‘Italian delicates curiosities’ everywhere (like tin biscuit cans and pasta packets) Charming, stylish Italian men were serving when I was there… Not at all bad…Really, really cute place!!  33 Kensington Park Road, Notting Hill, London | Tube: Ladbroke Grove or Notting Hill Gate (12 minute walk from there) |+442077275575 | ££

Mazzo – Amsterdam

A great brasserie style place to visit anytime of the day. The interior is done by the guys that did Supperclub, Envy, Nevy, etc. so you can expect a definite cool factor. I love the way it looks. The food is Italian where you can opt for panini’s and salads during the day and tasty pasta’s, pizza’s as well as fish and meat dishes at night. Very accessible atmosphere. You’ll find families, couples and business men. Rozengracht 114, Amsterdam | +3120 344 64 02 | Tram: Rozengracht | Website | €€
