Flatiron District

ABC Kitchen
ABC Kitchen NYC

A dear friend took me to this place on a Sunday evening in New York and I think I can say that this is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in NYC. To start, they have done a terribly good job on the interior. The place looks gorgeous. It is spacious and airy but super cozy at the same time. They have done a clever job with the decor which mixtures warm, wooden floors and exposed beam ceilings with modern, minimalistic furniture and light fixtures hanging from the ceiling to create a cozy atmosphere. Anyway, on top of this, Jean-Georges Vongerichten has done a beautiful job as chef; The food is absolutely incredible… Especially this mid size pizza we shared before sharing a main. Have the mushrooms, oregano, parmesan pizza with a farm egg!! It’s simply divine. I will absolutely go back here… Can’t wait actually…

It’s been a little quiet on our blog lately but we have lots of great restaurant tips coming up so stayed tuned. At the moment I’m living in New York for 3 months and there is one place I keep coming back to called ABC Cocina. Elsje already wrote about ABC Kitchen which is also one of my favourites, but this Latino version feels a little more casual and if you happen to like nacho’s and guacamole, you’re going to love this place. I come for brunch on the weekends (I’m going again tomorrow!) and recommend the basil & jalapeno margarita, green empanadas as well as their version of guacamole with sunflower seeds. The interior decoration is inspiring and might make you a little greedy, as everything is for sale in their 8 story super store next door. I love their little espresso cups, they especially look good on the boys don’t they? 38 E. 19th St. | Flatiron |212-677-2233 | Website | $$$

The Rose Bar

Rose Bar

Last time I went to New York I stayed in this fabulous looking, super trendy hotel and had a drink in this bar. Lucky me; what a bar! We went here on a week night in between midnight and 2am and not sure how the door policy is if you are not staying in their hotel. Probably go early (as in before dinner time…)
The bar is very elegant with a beautiful decor and warm atmosphere. There is a fireplace, pool table and there are some comfortable couches.  Cocktails are expensive but delicious. It was pretty dark in the bar which was a shame because Jude Law was sitting next to us and I had trouble checking him out from head to toe…2 Lexington Avenue (between 21st and 22nd St.), NYC, +1 212 920-3300 | $$$$ | Underground: 23rd Street – Lexington | WebsiteMap
