My expectations had become (slightly unrealistically) high when it took me over a year to get a reservation but when I finally managed to get a reservation this week it didn’t disappoint. The chef Ollie Dabbous has worked at the Fat Cat and trained at Michelin star restaurants so the food was supposed to be incredible and it was… Not only was the it beautifully presented, the taste was amazing. Very refreshing and not too complicated. Starting with homemade bread that was way too good to resist, a Pea & Mint starter that literally looked like a summer garden, followed by a beautiful light fish, perfect tasting lamb and burrata mozzarella with wild strawberries… The staff warmed up as the evening progressed but I didn’t find them as friendly as I hoped. The restaurant looks stripped back and industrially cool, and the bar downstairs is a great spot for cocktails (and dates). As expected a night at Dabbous doesn’t come cheap.
